Buy More Stuff!

Black Friday’s around the corner. Are you ready to spend your hard-earned money on more stuff?

Psychological marketing is one of the cruelest, most debilitating practices in the world today.  It causes people to think they need things when they truly don’t.  It is the downfall of our society.

Why is it cruel? 

Marketing to Children

The best example would be our children.  The big corporations are constantly targeting our kids with emotionally engaging (or brainwashed) marketing. 

They know kids are very easily influenced, and in turn, they can influence their parents to buy them all this stuff.  After all, that’s what the parents are working for, right?

They’ve replaced being there with their kids, doing some arts and crafts, going to the park, even spending time at the dinner table for stuff, more and more and more stuff

And, honestly, comparing price to quality on all these toys and gadgets they sell, you’d think that for the price, you’d be getting something awesome. 

Are you kidding?  Most of the toys between $25 and $80 are a bunch of junk that break within the first month.  And the saddest part is that they know it and do it on purpose.

Why?  So you can buy more stuff!

Kids, Stuff, and Relationships

What about the kids and their interaction with others?  I can’t tell you how many times my twin daughters had come home from school and said that one friend wasn’t playing with them because the other girl in class had lots of cool toys. 

How pathetic is that??

And it’s not just with our kids either; adults, especially young adults, are brainwashed in the same way.  That’s why companies can hire people for peanuts to work incredibly long hours, because the big guys know that they need all that cool stuff!

Seriously, if people were just working to live a basic, simple life, we would live in a better world.  But this more and more causes so much suffering and even early death to so many in the U.S. who are chasing the illusional American Dream

And so many families are terribly unhappy because both the kids and parents are never truly fulfilled because they’ve been brainwashed to want more and more stuff!

How Do They Do It: Psychological Marketing

In a previous post, The Illusion of Truth Effect,  I talked about how our political candidates use The Illusion of Truth Effect in their campaigns to brainwash us into voting for them. However, this is a tactic used by every marketing company in America. It’s the second part of the formula for psychological marketing. 

The first part is that writers use sensory/emotional engagement to hook their readers, and then apply the Illusion of Truth Effect, which states that if you see or hear something often enough, you begin to believe it, even if it’s an outrageous, unbelievable lie. 

This is based on studies and has come to be known as the Illusion of Truth Effect.  You can watch a short video here to learn more about it.

Not the Intention of Our Foremothers and Forefathers

This creation of a false need that our free market has created is causing humanity to suffer. 

We no longer strive for enlightenment like our foremothers, a sense of community, or caring. 

Remember the most important words from the signing of the Declaration:

“For the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.”

A New Paradigm

Do you think big corporations and money-hungry marketers are following this example from the Declaration? Are they pledging their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to us, or just using and abusing the system of free enterprise that so many died for without an inkling of decency in their bones? 

Doesn’t something need to change, a new paradigm shift for America?

Marketing won’t stop, though. Why? Because the bottom line is profit before people.

So what do we do?  Teach kids to meditate.

Why? 

Because meditation is the key to mastering our minds and emotions. If kids can learn at an early age to respond to incessant thoughts and emotions rather than react, to live in the moment with appreciation for what they have rather than a sense of unfulfilled needs, we could create a better world for them… mentally, emotionally, and physically.
